Centre for Rare Arts & Forgotten Trades
The Australian Centre for Rare Arts & Forgotten Trades (Rare Trades Centre for short) was established in 2022 as a place dedicated to the preservation and perpetuation of rare skills, knowledge and practice to ensure the language of ‘making’ in Australia is not lost to history and remains alive and accessible for future generations.
Located on Wadawurrung Country, Ballarat their world-class facilities for wood-working, metalworking, fashion & textiles, leather and decorative arts reside in a building alongside 150,000 objects in the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections.
Studio Mimi Moon was asked to develop a visual language to accompany the existing logo, including a feature typeface, colour palette and a program for their first year of running (in 2023) to give insight into the breadth of workshops and inspire people to take part. Interior signage for the entrance and business cards were also designed and a high end gift voucher + packaging and the 2024 program with more detailed information about the workshops being featured in 2024 .
