Studio Mimi Moon is the multi-disciplinary design studio of Miriam McWilliam (Mimi). Based in Melbourne for over 15 years, with two years spent designing and exhibiting in the UK and some time spent living in New York, she is now based in the charming town of Blackwood, tucked in the middle of the Lerderderg and Wombat State Forests, near Trentham. To date she has worked on some exciting projects for clients in areas such as hospitality, events, arts, cultural and community organisations, fashion, retail, charity and not-for-profit, tourism, property, government and a wide cross-section of small-medium businesses.

Specialising in artfully crafting brand identities and developing exciting project outcomes, that tell an authentic story, across multiple platforms for digital, print and experientially for events and within a space. Her approach is hand-crafted and personal; managing, art directing and designing all of the projects herself and working closely and collaboratively with her clients to define the ‘Who, What, Why and How’ of their project — helping them to realise their vision and bring the magic to the party. The full and half crescent moon which makes up part of the Studio Mimi Moon logo, represents this important collaborative and intrinsically balanced nature of client and designer.

She’s definitely not afraid of colour, loves using illustration and artful photography in her work, and a strong idea is always behind her design solutions. Behind every bright idea is a well-explored path of discovery; through extensive research, brain-storming, mood boards, conceptual development, design development and refinement; resulting in the creation of holistic design solutions that truly shine – like the magnificence of a full moon.

Studio Mimi Moon offers graphic design, illustration, art direction and styling services for projects including (but not limited to): Brand identities, re-brands, naming, visual languages, style guides, brand rollout, publications, stationery, book covers, posters, invitations, packaging, signage, wall murals, exhibitions, installations, visual merchandising and styling and art direction for photoshoots, interiors, events and experiences, websites, blogs, social media content, e-newsletters, web banners and animated gifs and short videos.

Miriam has won multiple awards for her client Burnley Brewing’s beer can label designs; for the ‘Easy on the Eye’ Award (2019) in the Beer & Cider category at the Drink Easy Awards, hosted by Broadsheet and a Silver Medal for Best Design at the Australian International Beer Awards (2019). She has exhibited her art both locally and Internationally (UK) and completed an artist residency at The Cradle Mountain Gallery in Tasmania in December 2019. She has been featured in publications such as; Frankie, Froth MagazineCreative Couples Project, Schoolhouse Studios, I-D Magazine), and blogs (Rented Space, The Room Illuminated) for her interior styling, design and creative work.

Of note, most recently, in 2024, her Design and Styling work was featured in Inside Out Magazine (print & Digital), The Design Files, Laminex Australia and is soon to be featured on Art & Design online journal Hunter & Folk.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss your next project, life’s too short for dull design – it’s all about finding your magic Moon-Sparkle.
